Sexual Differences Male has blue throughout head, body and fins. Lower half of head is blue. Upper part of dorsal region is orange/red. Anal fin may show red. Dorsal fin has white/light blue blaze throughout. Female grey/brown with some orange on anal and pelvic fins.
General Information The aquarium should have some rockwork but still provide open swimming space both along the bottom and mid-tank region. Feed a quality cichlid flake/pellet food, supplement occasionally with frozen brine, krill or mysis.

A. jacobfreibergi tends to be a more aggressive species of the Aulonocara genus. The above variety of A. jacobfreibergi has been selectively bred to bring out the red color, hence the name "Eureka Red"

Keep one male to several females, do not keep with other Aulonocara species as hybridization can occur.
