NOTE: the following are basic recommendations of compatible species as dictated by tank size. The species listed are those most commonly available.

Mbuna only

30 Gallon

Quantity: up to 15 individuals from up to 2 genuses, ratio 1 male to 3 or more females.

NOTE: Avoid picking species that share similar markings and colouration as other species you have already chosen.

Recommendations:

1 species from the Labidochromis genus:

Labidochromis caeruleus “Yellow Morph”
Labidochromis perlmutt

Mixed with 1 species of any of the following:

45-55 Gallon (least aggressive)

Quantity: up to 20 individuals from up to 3 genuses, ratio 1 male to 3 or more females.

NOTE: Avoid picking species that share similar markings and colouration as other species you have already chosen.

1-2 species from the Labidochromis genus:

Mixed with 1-2 species from any of the following:
